New construction of a fieldhouse to serve multiple sports.

NIU commissioned the building to allow for year-round athletics practice. The building houses a football field and running track, and can be configured for baseball and soccer. NIU requested an environment that is quiet (very little fan noise) and that would provide the most warm-weather comfort without air-conditioning. and special HVAC consideration for the hot yoga room.

The project includes new HVAC systems consisting of vertical built-up air-handling units (to reduce footprint and to take advantage of air stratification), piping to campus-wide steam system, provisions to add cooling in the future, circulation fans, new electrical service, fire alarm, and lighting/controls systems, along with new plumbing and fire protection systems.
